BANGLADESH, Sylhet, 28th September 2019 - Apurba’s CEO Fuad Rahman delivered a keynote titled “Building resources for Bangla - a low-resource language: Challenges and Perspectives” at the 2nd International Conference on Bangla Speech and Language Processing (ICBSLP) 2019. This conference was organized by Department of Computer science and Engineering, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, on 27-28th September, 2019.
The talk focussed on few resources for Bangla language processing and offered a case study on Bangla stemmers and the challenges to build even such a primary resource. The talk ended with a broader perspective on the state of the art of these resources and the ways to address this in an organized and efficient way.
ICBSLP 2019 aimed to bring together leading national and international academicians, researchers and scholars to exchange and share their experiences and research results about all the aspects of Bangla Speech and Language Processing, and to discuss challenges and their solutions. By bringing together national and international scholars, ICBSLP 2019 provided a common platform for these two entities to share ideas, build networks and work together for the success of this project.
